Students are expected to always follow the Liberty Middle School Expectations at all times!
In addition, some art specific rules we have are as follows:
1. No horseplay in the art room. We use many supplies which could be messy or dangerous if misused.
2. Respect one another at all times. We are a family in my room! We will act like it and treat one another with kindness.
3. Please do not obtain supplies that are not put out for use without permission. Students cannot go in back rooms or cabinets without permission.
4. Collaboration is important in art. Excessive noise is not. Please keep noise & activity level to a level where we can all work.
5. Please do not touch other people's artwork at any time. Whether it is drying, on their table, or being stored.
6. Do not leave the room without permission. It is a safety issue. Students will not be allowed to leave the room without a 911 pass. These must be brought to connections from academic classes.
7. Technology is highly encouraged. HOWEVER... you must look at the board each day to see if technology is being used for the activity. Phones should always remain turned off if not being used. If technology is not allowed at the time, devices are immediately put into "Phone Jail" and expectation points are taken. Repeat offenses will result in parent contact and not being able to use the device.
8. Music - students are more than welcome to enjoy music during class while working on projects. It is not okay during teacher directions, discussions, critiques, or drills. One earphone (to be able to listen for further instructions) with a low volume is expected, or music privileges will be suspended.
9. BE PREPARED & do your work. You are expected to bring your basic supplies to class every day. Your sketchbook and pencils are required. If you do not have these, we have to stop class for you. Make the best effort possible and you WILL succeed!
10. If you are behind on your work, look for my star in the mornings and the available times. I usually arrive early. If you need to work, please ASK and I will try to accommodate before school hours.
11. Extra credit - Extra credit is not given during the nine weeks... the theory being that if you do your work the first time, you simply will not need it in my class. IF you have a bad start or one bad project, there will be a replacement project the week before the end of the course. However, it is not a good idea to wait until then... simply do your work during the nine weeks and you will be successful. *Remember most work is graded based on following directions, not talent!
12. Have a good attitude. THINK LIKE AN ARTIST! Many students say "I can't". You CAN if you THINK you CAN and Ms. Parks is here to help you at any time!
